Just completed this small piece. Playing with the layers and having it hang over the panel edge. I am working on some 8x8's that have even more thickness...having fun with these.
E Sheppell "California On My Mind" 2011 12 x 9 acrylic on wood panel
the yellow brush stroke is almost sheer; it appears to float. very nice. i clicked to view it larger, i see what you meant when you said you're "having it hang over the panel edge"! the thickness and texture seem to need each other in this painting. i hope you do more of these! painting in thick layers can be very liberating.
Thanks Stephanie. It is liberating. I feel like I am approaching the paintings in a more aggressive way. It will be interesting to see where these go. Looking forward in seeing more of your encaustics!
