E Sheppell photo Indian Yarn 2011

These are photos I have taken at various times this year. I love the amazing colors, hues, and textures found. I think these are inspiring and fun. This is part of my palette in my studio right now. I am headed to some beach time and more inspiration to be found. Hope you have a wonderful long weekend!

Sunday Selection-Sand T Kalloch

Sand T Kalloch side view of X-11 Black

Sand T Kalloch X-11 Black , UV resistant Industrial epoxy resin, graphite and acrylic paint on wood panel, 18 x 18 x 1.75"
The work of Sand T Kalloch is so intriguing to me. They have a meditative and serene effect. Her photos are really fantastic but I am sure they can't do justice of the work up close. I really want to see these in person. I love the use of materials and the surfaces created. The depth and texture achieved is just amazing. Please visit Sand T's website to view her expansive body of work and up close photos of her pieces. Also check out her blog for news and updates.
Have a creative Sunday!

Off To NYC

I am leaving for NYC tomorrow for a work trip. I am hoping I will have a bit of time to see some art and have something good to report on. It's just inspiring being there so I know I will at least come back with some good energy to bring back to the studio. I did get some good news yesterday that I will be having a two person show in January at Sandler Hudson Gallery. I will be showing the new "Fat Series" that I have been working on. I am very happy that I will  be able to focus on this show and really push this series.
Sunday Selection will resume next weekend~

Indy

Indy in the studio being my assistant

Today is a tribute to my sweet loyal Indy. We had to say goodbye yesterday. He was such a special dog-there just won't be another Indy. I don't have children so he is as close as it gets for me.
Indy had been with me for 15.5 yrs. The time from my college years to yesterday. He was my companion for all of my early adulthood. I really can't imagine my life without him.
He lived in Brooklyn with me in a wild loft I rented with 6 other artists. He traveled with me back and forth to Ohio and then settling in Georgia.

We are so young here in Brooklyn

He has been my best friend and companion through everything. If you know me-you know how dear to my heart he is. He loved sitting with me in my studio while I painted. He didn't ever want me to be alone. It's amazing how human he was and knew me so well. I know how lucky I am that I had him by my side for so long.

Thank you Indy for being my studio mate, best friend, protector, and companion.

More on the Fat Series

I have been not posting as much due to some much needed family time. I am trying to get back on track with  the blogging and studio time. I will be headed to NYC next week for a week for work and hope to get in some gallery gazing as well. I hope to post about that trip. If you know of shows not to miss in NYC right now, I would love suggestions.
Here's one just completed. I am working on a whole series of these and hoping to expand to larger formats in the near future.
