They draw you in with  beautiful translucent layers and subtleties.  The use of line and washes of color is quite special.  I love works on paper and Ky has a large selection to check out here. More on the Fat Series

I have been not posting as much due to some much needed family time. I am trying to get back on track with  the blogging and studio time. I will be headed to NYC next week for a week for work and hope to get in some gallery gazing as well. I hope to post about that trip. If you know of shows not to miss in NYC right now, I would love suggestions.
Here's one just completed. I am working on a whole series of these and hoping to expand to larger formats in the near future.

I really love the subtle and bold use of color in Tamar Zinn's paintings. The use of sharp edges in contrast of the soft layering is quite beautiful.  Patricia Spergel's paintings have such a fluid ease to them. I love the softness and overlay of color that is achieved. The depth and openness is really beautiful.  They are on a smaller scale which I like,  but I would love to see these really large taking over a wall.  They have a fun playful quality that I am drawn to.  Please visit Patricia's website to see more of her lovely work.

 I really admire the work of Gary Petersen. The use of line and the space created is very interesting.   The color usage is so strong and thoughtful. I am very drawn to the above piece  "Slip". I like the fact that drawing is a force in the work that is layered subtlety throughout the pieces.

Feeling FAT

I do have days I feel this way but today I am talking about the new series I am working on. Lots of  thick fat layering but trying to keep some fluid feel to them. I am really enjoying changing the shape of the panel with the added edge build up. Looking forward on adding to this series.

My Sunday Selection is painter Karen Jacobs. I met Karen in Memphis a few years ago. We both were represented by a gallery there. I stopped in Alabama at her home/studio as well. I enjoyed seeing her large studio space and her beautiful home. Karen is an incredibly nice woman who has a successful art career.
